Discovering the problem

Based on findings by Mayo Clinic Emergency Physician Dr. Robert Hyde, for every minute that CPR is delayed, the chances of the victim's survival decrease by 10%.

Additionally, the National Institute of Health has reported that nine out of 10 individuals who experience a cardiac arrest outside of a hospital setting do not survive, with death often occurring within minutes.

Initial Research

My research shows that Naomi, a school worker, and Jackson, a tourist instructor, face risks of CPR delays with severe consequences.

They both emphasize the need for easily accessible CPR training and prompt emergency medical response in their workplaces and communities to improve survival rates and save lives.

How might we prevent CPR delays and improve survival rates for individuals like Naomi, who works in a school, and Jackson, a tourist instructor, by providing easily accessible CPR training and prompt emergency medical response in their workplaces and communities?

As I sat down to unwind after a stressful day, I decided to browse through YouTube for some lighthearted content.

But what caught my eye was a video with an overwhelming number of views. Intrigued, I clicked on it and was shocked to see the topic was CPR.

It was clear that millions of people were not only interested in learning CPR for the benefit of society, but also to keep their families safe.

It was a powerful reminder of how important it is to have CPR skills in order to protect our loved ones in unexpected emergencies.

Paper Sketches

Based on the insights gathered from my research findings, I proceeded to craft design layout ideas for the home screen as part of the solution.

Low fidelity design

Using the sketch as a guide, I quickly delved into Figma and began designing the Lo-Fidelity prototypes with ease.

Design system

Knowing how complex the designing of the app will be, it was important to create a design system based on reusable components and their states to make the design easy both for me and for developers if the project ends up being developed.

Improvements after usability study

Incorporating the insights gained from the usability study, I ensured that users can seamlessly access other learning/course materials for a smooth and user-friendly experience.
